About Dik, his Guitar and his Music

Dik is known for his mastery of acoustic guitar, particularly fingerstyle and slide techniques. His music draws inspiration from blues legends such as Big Bill Broonzy, Lighning Hopkins and Brownie McGhee, as well as British folk guitarists like John Renbourn and Wizz Jones.
Having an Irish mother and living in Scotland for many years, mixing with Scots Musicians of all genres and playing concerts and festivals thoughout the 1970's, 80's and 90's has definitely influenced his playing. His performances are known for their authenticity, warmth, and a stripped-down, rootsy approach that emphasizes his own personal story of the Blues as well as its tradition.
Dik creates music that is both personally meaningful and universally accessible, rooted in tradition, yet open to evolution and reinterpretation.

by David Alquier - Editor Procritique......
"One wonders how the pioneers of the blues would express themselves if they lived in our time. Of course, times have changed, the fights are no longer the same, Dik's album “Blue Days” could suggest a possibility of an answer."
